Equity and Sustainability: How to Balance Your Triple Bottom Line

December 4, 2009
Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
UO in Portland, White Stag Block 152
Presenter: Molly Chidsey

Sustainability's triple bottom line places equal weight to economy, environment, and equity. How can sustainability practitioners define this social aspect of sustainability within their programs? Further, how can we ensure that the benefits of sustainability are available to all members of our community? This workshop will provide participants with a useful background on equity and diversity as they pertain to sustainability, as well as hear from program managers who work directly with communities of color in their programs.

  • Learn how important diversity is to the success of the sustainability movement
  • Learn how public investments in sustainability projects can have community benefits
  • Get an overview of equity efforts happening throughout the Portland metro region
  • Hear presentations from local sustainability programs that are making eco-equity a reality
  • Acquire tools to help you ensure that the benefits of sustainability are available to all members of our community.
