Tony DeFalco

DeFalco brings fifteen years of experience working in environmental advocacy and coalition building locally and nationally. For five years he has been working with environmental and sustainability institutions creating inclusive organizations delivering equitable results, especially to communities of color. DeFalco took part in developing the Equity Audit, a tool that helps environmental and sustainability organizations understand how to become more inclusive and effective at delivering triple bottom line results. His most recent experience in community economic development connects low-income people to the economic benefits of environmental protection.

DeFalco is a founding board member and a chair of the Center for Diversity and the Environment. He co-founded Verde Energy, a non-profit social enterprise that hires and trains low-income people for good paying green jobs. DeFalco serves on the boards of the Audubon Society of Portland and Earthjustice. He holds a master's degree in Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation from Humboldt State University and a bachelor's degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
